The Goal of the Swinger Symbol
The goal of creating the swinger symbol “the swing” was to have a universal symbol one can wear in public without being recognized by non-swingers. It also had to be easy to reproduce, drawn by hand, and typed on a keyboard (\_/) just like many other popular symbols such as the peace symbol. A simplified design base also makes it easier to create more complex variations later and leaves more room for creativity.
